Joe Savage, Managing Director

Joe Savage

Joe Savage has more than 40 years of executive-level experience in telecommunications and optical networking, including CEO and Corporate Director positions with a number of optical equipment companies. He brings his global experience to strategic advisory services in the areas of wireline broadband access, optical networking and broadband services.

From 2005 to 2011, Joe served as President of the Fiber to the Home Council, North America, an association of more than 210 companies that are accelerating next-generation broadband. He began his career in fiber optics in the 1970s, helping to build the first fiber production facility at Western Electric in Norcross, Georgia. He has served as VP Planning and Engineering for Fujitsu Network Systems, and as VP, Research for RHK, Inc.

Joe is a professional engineer with a BEE and MSEE from Georgia Tech. He has received patents for high-speed digital transmission cable design and for methods of avoiding Internet congestion in the PSTN.

Jack Lee has over 20 years of experience in developing and delivering leading-edge telecommunications services and network equipment.  Jack has helped service providers and equipment manufacturers with product marketing, product management, market development, new product introductions, competitive analysis, key person staffing, and project management in his practice.  Currently, Jack is working on cloud services, cloud computing, server virtualization, and SaaS solutions.

Jack holds an MBA from Carnegie-Mellon University and an undergraduate engineering degree from the University of Washington.

Rich Moran

Rich Moran has 25 years of telecom experience with service providers, systems integrators and components vendors, with expertise spanning new product introduction, market sizing and segmentation, strength / opportunities / weakness analysis, assessing barriers to entry, and competitive analysis.

Rich has operated an independent consulting company since 2002; clients have included startups and established systems integrators. Rich was most recently the Director of Marketing and Business Development for the Network Systems Division of NEC. Mr. Moran has held management positions at Sprint, AT&T and Verizon Business. He also spent time as the Director of Sales and Marketing for Yafo Networks, a start-up optical communications vendor.

Kermit Ross

Kermit L. Ross provides consulting services in marketing strategy, planning, and product positioning to telecommunications companies, primarily domestic, and international start-up companies. Kermit was previously Vice President-Marketing of Taqua Systems. He also founded and was President of Teledata Communications Inc., the North American subsidiary of an Israeli company. He has over 39 years’ experience in the telecommunications industry, including sales, marketing and executive positions at Raychem, Raytheon, GN Netcom, Teltone and DSC.

Mr. Ross began his telecommunications career in 1965 at Indiana Bell. He has held sales, marketing and executive positions at U.S. and International telecommunications equipment companies, including both Fortune 500 and start-up companies. He has started and managed U.S. subsidiaries for two offshore telecommunications companies.

Since beginning his consulting career in 1996, Mr. Ross has consulted for more than 100 U.S. and international clients. He is a frequent contributor to telecommunications publications and has spoken at many industry conferences. He holds a BS in Mathematics from Purdue University.

Wayne Caswell, Executive Affiliate

Wayne Caswell is a home networking pioneer with extensive IT experience in development, systems engineering, marketing, and strategy. Wayne has practiced in the broadband, wireless, and home networking markets. Wayne’s resume of experience includes market and competitive analysis, strategic planning, business development, and related tasks; and his clients range from startups to multinational corporations and industry associations.

Previous clients include 3M, Parks Associates, Siemens ICM Cordless Products, and the International Wireless Packaging Consortium. Wayne has served as the Communications Chairman of the HomeRF Working Group and helped converge voice, data, and entertainment networks into a single wireless specification.

Wayne also helped pioneer the residential gateway (RG) concept and promoted many emerging RG standards, including OSGi, ISO/IEC JTC1 SC25/WG1, and TIA TR-41.5.

Matt Walker, Executive Affiliate

Matt Walker has 15 years of global consulting and market research experience in telecom, with Ovum, IDC, RHK, and Exeter Associates, and energy background at both Exeter and Rochester Gas & Electric.

Matt’s telecom industry work has included a wide range of consulting and market research projects, including technology forecasting, market share studies, telco capex analysis, M&A/VC due diligence, market strategy support, sales team training, and cost study and interconnection work for US CLECs. His primary focus since 2000 has been the Asia-Pacific market, but he has continued to work on global projects, and for clients based in Europe/MEA and North America. Matt holds an MS in economics (1995) and BA in political science (1994), both from the University of Rochester (Rochester, New York).
